Sex-trafficking cases hard to crack in Wisconsin
Source: USA Today
WAUSAU, Wis. — On an October day in 2010, a 22-year-old woman strolled along National Avenue in Milwaukee, headed to a friend's home to spend the night.
An SUV pulled up alongside her. The door opened, and a stocky, bearded man jumped from the driver's seat, grabbed her by the jacket and threw her into the back of the vehicle. Frantic, she tried to call her friend for help, but the call never went through.

Where does human trafficking happen? Right in front of you
Source: Thompson Reuters Foundation
Human trafficking has many faces and forms. There’s the pimp enslaving and exploiting young girls in cities across the United States – where an estimated 100,000 girls are trafficked at present. There are the men who buy young boys in Ghana, forcing them into lives of servitude and hard labour, spending long days in flimsy boats in the Lake Volta region, hunched over their fishing lines under a scorching sun.

Hong Kong needs a dedicated anti-trafficking law | South China Morning Post
Source: South China Morning Post:
In 2009, America's Trafficking in Persons Report, published by the State Department, downgraded Hong Kong from its Tier 1 status (fully compliant with the US trafficking legislation's minimum standards for prohibiting, punishing and eliminating severe forms of trafficking) to Tier 2 (not fully compliant, but making significant efforts), and the 2013 report, issued last June, reconfirmed that grading.
The latest report, moreover, described Hong Kong as a destination and transit territory for people "subjected to sex trafficking and forced labour", and Luis CdeBaca, who heads the department's human trafficking office, has pointed to recent cases of domestic helper abuse, as evidencing forced labour.

Inuit families sell their babies online, pimp out their daughters and turn a blind eye to human trafficking.
These are some of the claims made by Canadian consultant Helen Roos in a 159-page report released in November 2013, that presents anecdotal evidence of sexual abuse and human trafficking in Canada's remote arctic regions. The report stirred public debate last month, when it was picked up by media across the world's second largest country.

Selling humans
In the western part of India’s capital city, New Delhi, more than 5,000 domestic worker placement agencies operate out of a nondescript neighborhood called Shakurpur Basti. For years, the agencies have flourished by indulging in the business of trafficking minor girls and selling them as domestic slaves in the cities. To expose this racket of trafficking and to uncover their modus operandi, we waited for days with a hidden camera, posing as a family interested in employing a girl.
