Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation saves trafficked Vietnam street kids
“It’s highly rewarding because we see lives change,” he says. “The harrowing part is when it takes a long time. We know boys and girls of just 14 who are making money selling sex, after they’ve been abused. They hate themselves and think this is all they’re good for.
“Knowing that abuse is happening is the hardest part. You have to keep believing.”

Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015
SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING VOTE | News | Jeanne Shaheen - United States Senator for New Hampshire: March 17, 2015
(WASHINGTON, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement after human trafficking legislation did not advance in the Senate:
“Human trafficking is too important an issue to be stalled because of unrelated measures aimed at restricting women’s access to healthcare. I’m disappointed that partisan language was inserted in this bill that could lead to a dramatic and unprecedented restriction on abortion coverage in the future. We ought to remove that controversial language and act on this bill in a bipartisan fashion.”

200 Indigenous People Rescued from Modern-Day Slavery in Mexico | News | teleSUR
Mexico is a country marred by violence and plagued by corruption and impunity; elements that create a fertile ground for exploitation of members of vulnerable social classes. Indigenous groups are among the most affected. Recent statistics show an increase of modern-day slavery cases against them; one of which was reported by the Ministry of Labor this Monday, involving 200 Tarahumaras, rescued from subhuman conditions.

Harry Reid: Human Trafficking Bill Doomed Unless GOP Removes Anti-Abortion Language
The Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, introduced by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), would establish a fund to help victims by using fees charged to traffickers. The bill, a new version of a measure originally introduced in the previous Congress, has bipartisan support and unanimously passed out of the Judiciary Committee last month.
But Democrats learned this week that the bill contains Hyde Amendment language -- a recurring rider that often gets attached to other legislation, and that restricts federal funding for abortion and other health care services.

Mekong Trafficking Report Uncovers Mental Health, Abuse Issues - International Organization for Migration
“Trafficking in human beings is a gross violation of human rights that often involves extreme exploitation and abuse,” said Jeff Labovitz, IOM’s Thailand Chief of Mission. “People are trafficked for various forms of exploitation, most frequently into low-skilled labour sectors and for forced labour and sexual exploitation. In these circumstances, trafficked persons are exposed to a multitude of health risks, including violence, deprivation and serious occupational hazards.”

Acting on a tip-off, TWC2 rescues a maid trapped over two years without a day off
Late November 2014, an email came from the blogsite Tremeritus about an Indonesian domestic worker who was not allowed to leave her employer’s house for two years. The email sender said “hope you guys can take a look at this case seriously. The poor maid is said to be always hungry and begging for food from neighbour.”
Helpfully, the email gave us at Transient Workers Count Too the address – a house in a quiet district in the Thomson area.
