... January 11 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Across the country, anti-trafficking organizations are hosting activities, from film screenings to training on community response efforts. California
The public is invited to join with CASE (the Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation) in recognizing the National Day of Human Trafficking on January 11, 2010, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Inland Regional Center Training Center (1365 S. Waterman) in San Bernardino. The event is free to the public, but space is limited and reservations are required. To reserve a seat, please contact the Children’s Network at (909) 383-9677.
The Coalition Against Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) is launching a public awareness campaign and emergency support program. The campaign will be launched on January 11, 2010 and culminate on Lincoln’s Birthday, February 12, 2010, to symbolize that slavery was NOT abolished in 1865. Join them for a series of events, including panel discussions, exhibits, press conferences, media, survivor speakers, campus events, and an Emancipation Concert on Feb 12th in the LA area. A human trafficking awareness event will be held in Sacramento on Saturday, January 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. This event will include art and live music. Check out more information here.

Florida
The Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking will host a forum event to discuss how to end domestic minor sex trafficking in St. Petersburg. More information available here.
Illinois
The Illinois Rescue and Restore, a state-wide coalition of social service organizations, law enforcement, advocacy groups, and community members, is seeking to combat human trafficking in Illinois. They will host a training session on January 14, 2010, from 9AM to 4PM at LaSalle Street Church at 111 N Wells St., Chicago, IL. In Springfield, Calvary Church is hosting an awareness forum. The event is scheduled to be held on January 11, 2010 at Calvary Temple Christian Center located at 1730 W. Jefferson, Springfield, IL (park in rear of building). This event will begin at 7 p.m. and will conclude at 9:00 p.m. and include a film followed by a panel discussion and audience questions and answers.
Ohio
A film screening for National Human Trafficking Awareness Day will be hosted at Ohio State University from 1:00 - 8:30 PM at The Ohio State University, College of Social Work, Stillman Hall, Room 115. Featuring speakers include Michelle Hannan and Theresa Flores. The event is open to the public. You can check out the agenda here.
State Senator Teresa Fedor introduced a resolution recognizing January 11th as National Human Trafficking Day in Ohio, and will host a Statehouse event from 9:00 to 11:30 A.M., featuring panelists and a keynote address from various experts tackling the problem of human trafficking. Oklahoma
OCAHT will host an event on Monday January 11th to bring light to the issue of Human Trafficking in Oklahoma. You can also plan a community event at your home, church, business, library or town hall and help us expose the dark crimes of modern day slavery and the sexual commercialization of our youth. North Carolina
Soroptimist International of Raleigh, NC is committed to raising awareness and fostering action. To learn more about how traffickers entangle their victims and ways we can take action, we invite you, and others you wish to invite, to a free screening of a documentary film, “Playground, Child Sex Trade in America”.
