Educating, raising awareness, and inspiring activism about modern day slavery and human trafficking are the primary goals for Steven James Collins Photography. The photography group has a Modern Day Slavery Awareness Exhibit consisting of 21 iconic and compelling images that will circulate nationally and eventually internationally.
On Saturday, May 19 at 7 p.m., at the HourGlass Art & Wine Gallery in Rancho Cucamonga, the exhibit will be unveiled to the public for the first time. The evening’s opening reception will be highlighted with modern day abolitionists discussing their experiences rescuing slaves and their drive to end human trafficking.
Many of the large photographs on LexJet Sunset Photo Metallic Paper are based on true stories of human trafficking victims that became survivors. Most of the collection has detailed captions to inform the public on the statistics and realities of this global travesty. The purpose of this collection is to teach the general public about modern day slavery, facilitate awareness from the photographs/captions, motivate everyday people to become activists, and ultimately create change.
The exhibit will run for three weeks at the HourGlass Art & Wine Gallery from May 19 through June 9 in Rancho Cucamonga. The collection will also travel to: San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Angeles, New York City, and Maysville, Ky. (home of the Underground Railroad Museum).
