The city wants New Yorkers' help identifying and saving victims of human trafficking.

Actress Emma Thompson is the voice behind a new public service announcement playing in taxi cabs, which is aimed to get people to look for signs of human trafficking and call 311, or 911 if it is an emergency.

These signs include people having their passports taken or being forced to work long hours at very low wages and living in overcrowded conditions.

"Sometimes you see young girls on the street when you know they're not supposed to be there. These are warning signals and as New Yorkers we have to pay attention and we have to help," said Deputy Mayor of Legal Affairs Carol Robles-Roman.

A Dutch expert at fighting human trafficking appeared at the Bronx Family Justice Center, which provides legal, housing and social services in one location for victims of trafficking and domestic violence.
