Every other identified victim of human trafficking in Serbia is a child, Serbian newspaper Politika reports. Over the last few years the number of children, victims of human trafficking, has grown considerably. Children are mainly victims of the actions of separate people, and not organised crime groups.

According to data of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia, one quarter of minors, who are victims of human trafficking are children aged 14 or younger. Most of children the affected by human trafficking, girls 18 or younger, are forced to prostitute. According to the data, there are no boys that have been forced to prostitute, but there are cases when they are forced to beg, and are punished sexually if they fail to provide enough money. Most of the unidentified victims are boys, forced to beg.

One of the forms of human trafficking is forced marriage. Most such cases are seen in people from the Roma or Wallachia minorities.
