SINGAPORE: The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (US ICE HSI) have completed their inaugural three-day Trafficking in Persons and Child Exploitation Workshop in Singapore from August 15 to 17.
A joint statement said the workshop brought together more than 50 participants from various overseas and local agencies.
It was aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the local law enforcement agencies to monitor and combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP).
A senior US official at the workshop emphasised that training was a key element in learning how to investigate TIP and child exploitation crimes.
The interaction during the course also served as a bridge between the law enforcement counterparts, providing a better understanding of each other's laws and capabilities.
Deputy Director of Singapore's Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Teo Chun Ching, said the workshop underscores Singapore's commitment in tackling TIP by equipping officers with the latest in expert knowledge.
